Last year, non-profit organizations, service groups and individuals from across the country pledged and donated more than 18,000 emergency kits to help their neighbors in need. This year we want to meet or exceed that goal! First click the link below to pledge your kits. Then, use the tips and resources to host a “kit party” and make building your kits a festive affair!
Use this invitation or make one of your own to invite friends, family and neighbors
Use the kit party shopping list to make sure you have all the items necessary to build hurricane emergency kits. You don’t have to supply all of the items yourself. Reach out to local merchants for support and have guest bring items
Decorate, post signs and hand out thank-you notes just as you would for any other party. Fun music and “power-free games” may also get your guests engaged. Plan your menu with these Dine in the Dark recipes
Now that you have prepared your kits, deliver them to in-need families in your community. Reach out to local nonprofit organizations, churches or food banks for suggestions for help in identifying families in need
Take pictures of your party and post them on the Blowout Facebook page. Send a news release to local media outlets so your community learns how you have helped your neighbors and how they can join the cause FLASH Facebook Page.
